Immunisation Advisory Centre (IMAC)

ACC

IMAC are a nationwide organisation based at the School of Population Health at The University of Auckland. Their aim is to provide New Zealanders with a local source of independent, factual information based on international and New Zealand scientific research regarding vaccine-preventable diseases and the benefits and risks of immunisation, information and training for health professionals, national immunisation coordination and policy advice and research into many aspects of vaccines and vaccine-preventable diseases.

They provide a variety of products and services for consumers, health professionals, government agencies and the media to improve the understanding and quality of immunisation in New Zealand.

IMAC Vision

To take a visionary role in creating and sustaining healthier communities protected from vaccine preventable diseases through the effective delivery of immunisation services.

IMAC Aims

  1. Communities understand immunisation and its role in the control of vaccine preventable diseases.
  2. Immunisation service delivery is an effective part of integrated health, education and social services.
  3. High standards of immunisation service delivery are set and maintained.
  4. A well resourced, knowledgeable and equitable health professional workforce.
  5. The delivery of original immunisation research that builds scientific knowledge to inform policy and practice.
  6. Equity in access to immunisation services and resources.
  7. The principles of Te Tiriti O Waitangi underpin the development and delivery of all proposals, projects, research and services.
