Asian Family Services (AFS) provides free, professional, confidential, nationwide face-to-face or telephone support to Asians living in New Zealand.

These services are offered in English, Cantonese, Mandarin, Korean, Vietnamese, Japanese and Thai. An interpreter can be arranged for other languages.

Based in Auckland, AFS has six full-time staff who speak Chinese, five part-time staff who speak Chinese, one full-time Korean staff, and four part-time staff who speak Japanese, Vietnamese, Thai and Hindi.

​All staff are trained counsellors and social workers.

What Asian Family Services do?

Immigrants with gambling problems and no gambling problems, including stress during the migration process can benefit from Asian Family Services. They offer workshops on the following topics: 

Positive Parenting Programme (Triple P Parenting), communication programme for migrant fathers, 'Live well, Study Well' for international students, 'Wellness Recovery Action Plan', (WRAP) for clients with mental health issues, Anger Management Programme, Gambling Prevention Workshop for new migrants or refugees, 'Bet on Freedom' harm prevention programme for those who want to re-enter Casino after a period of exclusion from Casino in New Zealand, Prison Work. Gambling Harm Prevention and Reintegration Programme for Asians who are incarcerated.
